Lincoln Center celebrates the Mostly Mozart debut of the “astute and exciting” (The New York Times) Jonathan Nott as he leads the Festival Orchestra in Beethoven’s Fourth Symphony and Stravinsky’s poignantly beautiful Symphonies of Wind Instruments. Pianist Juho Pohjonen, one of the brightest talents to emerge from Finland in many years, debuts in a sunny and vigorous Mozart concerto.
“Mr. Nott achieved the desired shock effect not through driving tempos and relentless precision but by drawing out the organic, elemental power in the music.”
—The New York Times
“Mr. Pohjonen is an exceptional pianist…punchy power and crystalline sound.”
—The New York Times
Performances begin promptly at their scheduled time. There is no late seating.
For Avery Fisher Hall stage seating, all patrons must be seated by 7:55.
The performances are approximately one hour and 50 minutes long, with one intermission.
On August 17, Juho Pohjonen played Grieg's Brudefølget drager forbi (“Bridal Procession”), from Folkelivsbilleder ("Scenes from Country Life"), as an encore.
