Pre-concert lecture by Peter A. Hoyt, "Musical Monuments, Ruins, and Impossibilities," on Friday, August 26, at 6:45 in the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse
The Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra closes the 2011 Festival with a pairing of two incomplete masterpieces: Schubert’s famous “Unfinished” Symphony and Mozart’s powerful, enigmatic Requiem.
“Langrée conducts with a sybaritic grin, frequently reaching out with both arms as if to enfold the orchestra, instruments and all, in a warm embrace.”
—New York
“Lezhneva’s coloratura is an articulate combination of bubbling lightness and controlled power, like a ping pong ball bobbing in a jet of compressed air.”
—The Guardian
