Pre-concert discussion on August 20 with Mark Morris and Joan Acocella at 6:15 in the Irene Diamond Education Center
Hailed by The New York Times as "a dancer of extraordinary power, an intricate craftsman and an unpredictably imaginative theater artist," Mark Morris is an exceptional choreographer whose musicality brightens his work, along with a remarkable commitment to performing with live music. For this year's Festival, Lincoln Center commissions two exciting new works from Morris titled Empire Garden and Visitation, performed by the Mark Morris Dance Group featuring virtuosic luminaries Yo-Yo Ma on cello and Emanuel Ax on piano. These new works are paired with audience favorite V, "one of the few great works that modern dance has produced in a decade" (The New York Times).
Empire Garden and Visitation are commissioned in part by Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and Tanglewood Music Center of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
Sponsored by J.C.C. Fund of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of New York, Inc.
This event is part of the Lincoln Center 50 Years celebration.
This performance is approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes, including one 20-minute intermission.
Please note: Performances begin promptly at their scheduled times. There is no late seating.
